The range of a vehicle is dictated by the battery capacity, driving style and temperature. Just like a petrol or diesel vehicle, range is reduced is you drive fast or uneconomically. For further details, see Range Explained.
The official (NEDC) range is 149 miles, but in real life this is typically up to 90-100 miles in the summer, if driven economically. Range is less in the winter due to lower temperatures and heater use and can be up to 20% less. Top speed is 84 mph.
The range you can achieve with a full battery at different average driving economies is:
5.0 mpkWh (super efficient city driving) = 110 miles
4.5 mpkWh (efficient summer driving) = 99 miles
4.0 mpkWh (average driving) = 88 miles
3.5 mpkWh (efficient winter driving) = 77 miles
3.0 mpkWh (very cold winter driving) = 66 miles
The front charging port is a type 2. The Zoe has a Chameloen onboard charger so can accept any AC single or 3-phase charging from 3-22kW. i.e. can be charged via a 10A 3-pin plug portable charger, 16A or 32A home charger or the public fast and rapid chargers (AC type 2 only).
Charging takes from 60 minutes to overnight, depending on charger being used. On a public 22kW or 43kW rapid AC charger (i.e. an Ecotricity charger at a motorway services) the R-motor Zoe will charge from flat to 80% in around 60 minutes. Charging on a home 7kW wall charger will around 4 hours to charge from flat to 100%. Charging from a mains socket with a granny cable will take up to 9 hours (from flat to 100%).
Charge times are:
22kW+ AC rapid charging = 60 mins to charge from 0-80%
7kW AC charging = 4 hours to charge from 0-100% or around 24 miles per hour of charging
2.3kW AC charging (granny cable) = 12 hours to charge from 0-100% or around 8 miles per hour of charging
While it is called the 22kWh battery, it is actually a 25.92kWh 400v lithium-ion battery, with an usable capacity of 23.3kWh. Battery is currently leased and therefore guaranteed for lifetime to 75% SoH. See below for further details.
The battery is currently at 95% state of health (as tested on 18/05/2021).
RCI are now giving owners of leased battery vehicles the option to purchase their packs. You can do this at any time. The current purchase price would be £2,800 and reduces as the car gets older.
The car is in fabulous condition inside and out. Everything works as it should do without any faults. Watch the video above for a full review of the condition and study the photographs in the gallery.
The tyre tread depths are: Fronts 6.0mm, rears 6.2mm.
New tyres typically are 6.5-7.5mm tread depth. The legal limit is 1.6mm.65 kW (88 bhp) R240 electric motor producing 220 Nm peak torque. The R motor allows AC charging at 22kW.
