Range

The range of a vehicle is dictated by the battery capacity, driving style and temperature. Just like a petrol or diesel vehicle, range is reduced is you drive fast or uneconomically. For further details, see Range Explained.

The official range is 142 miles on the WLTP test cycle. Our own tests have shown that with efficient driving in the summer, the real range is around 160 miles. As with all EVs, the range is reduced in the winter due to the cold. Typically cold winter range is around 20% lower, depending on heating use.

The range you can achieve with a full battery (approx 45kWh) at different average driving economies is approx:

• 4.0 mpkWh (super efficient city driving) = 180 miles

• 3.7 mpkWh (efficient summer driving) = 166 miles

• 3.0 mpkWh (average driving) = 135 miles

• 2.8 mpkWh (efficient winter driving) = 126 miles

• 2.2 mpkWh (very cold winter driving) = 99 miles

Charging

The Toyota Proace Electric has both AC and DC charging, with the charge port on the nearside front wing.

AC charging is via a type2 socket with a single phase 7.4kW onboard charger. AC charging will be typically back at base or home, overnight when the van is not used. Or maybe topping up onsite during the day while working, via a normal mains socket using the portable charger included.

DC charging is via a CCS socket with a 100kW onboard charger. DC rapid chargers are found in motorway services, petrol forecourts and some car parks and used to quickly top up to extend the range.

Charge times are:

• DC rapid charging from 10-80% takes only 26 minutes if using a 100+kW charger or around 40 mins if using a slower 50kW charger.

• AC charging from a 7.4kW wall box will add about 25 miles per hour. A full 0-100% charge will take around 6 hrs.

• AC charging from a normal mains socket using the portable charger (2.3kW) will add about 8 miles per hour. A full 0-100% charge will take around 20 hrs.

Battery

50kWh lithium-ion battery with a usable capacity of around 45kWh. The manufacturer's battery warranty is 8 years/100,000 miles from new, to 70% state of health.

We're unable to test the current battery SoH as our diagnostic machine is not reporting this from the BMS. However, we would expect it to be at 99-100% SoH at this age.

Condition

This van is in fantastic condition and still looks like new. Watch the video above for a full review of the condition. Everything works without any faults.

The tyre treat depths: Fronts 7.4mm, rears 8.4mm, spare (unused) 9mm.

MoT

The first MoT isn't due until 26/08/2024.

Service history

The service schedule on these electric vans is 1 year, then every 2 years.

A Toyota main dealer service was completed on 07/09/2021 at 5,643 miles. Subsequent services are now due every 2 years/25,000 miles.

Number of owners

Two owners since new. We purchased the vehicle directly from the previous keeper, who'd owned it since Nov 2021. We guess it was a Toyota demonstrator for the first two months.

Warranty

From new, the manufacturer's warranty is:

• 3 years/60,000 miles vehicle warranty

• 5 years/60,000 miles electric powertain warranty

• 8 years/100,000 miles traction battery warranty, which guarantees it to 70% SoH.

• 3 year surface rust/paintwork warranty

• 6 year corrosion perforation warranty

• Vehicle warranty is extended for 24 months/20,000 miles with every qualifying dealer service, up to a maximum of 10 years/100,000 miles.
